Darna and Botobot Falls, Dumalneg, Ilocos Norte

Updated: Mar 18, 2023

Hold onto your hats, folks! Dumalneg is a hidden gem of a municipality that's nestled snugly among the mountains and rainforests of Ilocos Norte. And let me tell you, this little slice of paradise is quickly becoming a hotspot for both locals and foreigners alike. It's famous for its Panagwawagi Festival, Ar-Ar-O Picnic Grove, Mataltala Trail, and - wait for it - the BEST waterfalls around.

But let's talk about those waterfalls, shall we? Botobot and Darna Falls are just two of the gems that will take your breath away. The cool and refreshing air will make you feel like you're in heaven, and the views are simply out of this world. It's a destination that's unspoiled and pure, and it's a must-see for anyone planning a trip to Ilocos Norte.

Take a glance at how we reach the breathtaking and jaw-dropping waterfalls of Dumalneg.

Now, I don't want to scare you, but I do have a cautionary tale to share. You see, the trek to the falls isn't for the faint of heart. There are streams to cross, and some of them can be pretty treacherous. Kumpad Marlon found this out the hard way when he slipped and fell in the first stream, bless his heart. And let me tell you, those rocks can be slippery little suckers, so be careful when you're crossing!

The second stream was even more risky, and we weren't sure if we should continue or not. It was a "buwis-buhay" moment if ever there was one! But we forged ahead, and boy, am I glad we did.

The third stream was a little easier, and it was just one of five that we crossed before we finally made it to the Botobot Falls. And don't worry if you don't see a picture of the fourth stream - I video recorded it, and it was EPIC.

This was the fifth stream that we crossed before we reached the first waterfall, the Botobot Falls.

Going to the next waterfall, the famous Darna Falls.

So there you have it, folks. Dumalneg is a wonderland of adventure, and the waterfalls are just the icing on the cake. So grab your sense of adventure and come on down - you won't regret it!

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Leave nothing but FOOTPRINT, Take nothing but PICTURES and Kill nothing but TIME.

To visitors do not destroy the place if you have trash put it in the proper place. Take care of it so others can enjoy the beauty of mother nature.
