Mabilag Falls, Vintar, Ilocos Norte

Updated: Mar 18, 2023

Listen up, fellow adventurers! Have you heard of the highest falls in Ilocos Norte, where the enchanting Encantadora falls originates? That's right, it's the Mabilag Falls in Barangay Dipilat, Vintar. But let me tell you, getting there is not a walk in the park. It's a 45-minute trek full of ups and downs, crossing rivers, and holding onto roots and branches for dear life. So, unless you're an expert in mountain climbing, I suggest you get a guide (and don't forget to tip them generously because they're your savior!).

Once you reach the top, prepare to be amazed by the six-layered Mabilag Falls, with Encantadora being the lowest.

Once you're on top of the falls, you have to climb down on its rocky side and have to hold on roots or tree branches to avoid falling. Remember to be extra careful when going down, or else you'll end up in the hospital.

This is the source of the waterfalls.

But here's the thing, my friends. If you think reaching the top is the end of the adventure, think again! You still have to climb down the rocky side of the falls, and let me tell you, it's not for the faint-hearted. One wrong step, and you'll be kissing the hospital bed. But hey, don't let that discourage you! Kumpad Marlon and I managed to reach two falls, but we missed the third one. I heard it's the most beautiful, and it has a natural pool bigger than Encantadora (if you've been there). Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip short due to time constraints, and we had to cross another mountain. But mark my words, I'll be back for that natural pool!
